Teaching Labs has four ATI Unicam 610 packed column GCs connected to a computer producing results as PDFs with peak detection and integration. These GCs are good for quantifying amounts of specific volatile compounds in simple mixtures using either internal or external standardisation. For more complex mixures capilliary GC is a better option.

Data from the GC610 instruments is automatically made available at ftp://chemtl.york.ac.uk/GC/.
Data is autosaved with a filename based on the instrument name, date and time of injection (InstrumentName - dd_mm_yyyy hh_mm_ss). Data is available in the following formats:
Portable document format. An auto processed document containing the chromatogram and automatically generated peak table with integrations.
Chromatography Data Interchange Format. This format can be imported directly into ACD/Spectrus for reprocessing.
Tab-delimited text format with time in minutes against voltage in millivolts. This can be read into any application capable of processing text data (ex Microsoft Excel).
Native chromatography file for the Clarity which controls the GCs.
