Perkin Elmer Spectrum 2 InfraRed Spectrometer

Instrument

There are several Perkin Elmer Spectrum 2 InfraRed instruments in the department and have sinc ebeen replaced in teahcing labs by the Bruker Alpha II's. These can operate either with an ATR (UATR - Single Reflection Diamond) attachment, or in transmission mode.

Accessing data

Data from the IR spectrometers is automatically made available at ftp://chemtl.york.ac.uk/IRB/. Data is available in the following formats:


PDF

An autogenerated PDF spectrum printout.


CSV

Raw text format date of transmission and wavenumber values. Can be opened directly in Excel or other data manipulation packages.


SP

The .sp files are the native file format for the Perkin Elmer Spectrum software. These can be opened and edited in Spectrum, or can alternatively be opened in ACD/Spectrus.
