As part of the teaching lab experience we aim for every user of teaching labs to have an enjoyable and inclusive time, with equal access and opportunity to cary out all activities. In order to facilitiate this we employ a variety of methods and make use of different support tools that can be put in place. Whilst some of these adaptiations need to be implemented as part of a support plan, many can be implemented immediately ahead of any formal support plans.

The collection below are adaptations we have used in York or have been aware of their use elsewhere. There are many more adaptations we may well be able to make and add to this list. Most of the adaptations have only come about through working with students to find adaptations to tailor to their needs.
The lab includes one adjustable height fume cupboard and variable hight benching (including a sink).
We have several bottle holders with three sloping faces allowing bottles to be supported at different angles. This are mostly used as weighing aids.
Scripts can be provided with alternative type sizes. For example enlargements to A3 or reformatting of scripts into large point sizes.
Lab scripts can be printed onto a wide range of different coloured paper. A range of colours are pre-stocked and we can order additional colours as required.
Coloured tape can be applied to glassware to help increase the contrast to aid locating the top of glassware in use.
