Prep Room

The technical team are here to support your practical sessions. If you require new or additional glassware, top ups for chemicals, acetone for cleaning and drying or just assistance or help with any of the instruments or equipment then you will be able to find a technician at the hatch. Many of the technicians are also first aid trained and any accidents or injuries should be reported to the hatch.

Equipment Found at the Hatch

A wide variety of equipment in teaching labs can be requested at the hatch, however the following items are available for students to help themselves to as and when they need it throughout their lab days:

Acetone

If your acetone wash bottle runs out, you can return it to the empty acetone bottles basket at the hatch and collect a full one.

Spatulas

If you would like a different sized spatula, or your tray is missing one all together, you can collect one from the beaker at the hatch.

Stirrer Bars

Stirrer bars should be available on the service beams in all areas of the lab, but if you run out, there are spares at the hatch.

Stationary

A variety of stationary is available from the prep room for anyone to use.

NMR Supplies

This tray contains NMR tubes, caps, labels, and deuterated solvents which you can help yourself to.

GC/HPLC Supplies

This tray contains GC/HPLC vials and labels which you can help yourself to.
